Where does my donation go?
Locally, more than eighty-one cents of every dollar spent by the American Red Cross of Greater Cleveland is invested in humanitarian services and programs. The Red Cross offers the community the chance to learn First Aid, CPR and other health and safety skills that will help keep you safe. We provide emergency communications for military families and offer assistance to those trying to locate family members during local and international disasters. In 2008-09, the Greater Cleveland Chapter provided the following services to Cuyahoga, Lake and Geauga counties:
- Reduced fire deaths by installing 2,578 smoke alarms and batteries in the homes of residents who qualify as low income, disabled or elderly.
- Taught almost 43,000 people how to perform lifesaving skills such as First Aid and CPR.
- Taught over 22,000 people lifeguarding, learn to swim, and boating safety skills.
- Trained over 600 students for employment at nurse assistants and home health aides.
- Served 853 members of the military and their families around the world, helping them stay connected to family members during a difficult separation.
Your generous contributions help over 1600 disaster victims annually across Cuyahoga, Geauga and Lake counties, each year by providing:
- Food
- Clothing
- Shelter
- Counseling
- Health Needs
